PPF House – Attic [mixtape]

Well, it’s been a little while since I posted. Unfortunately, that has been a trend for me lately. I have moved a few times and have had a small bit of trouble getting Internet access at the new crib…but that problem is now solved! What better way to reenter the scene then to put my man LEO37 and the PPF House crew on blast. I first met LEO37 when I was gigging in Taipei. We hit it off instantly. The cat has a nice flow and is type ILL with the freestyle. The PPF hail from Canada and cover a wide range of artistic talent, from music to visual arts. Check out their website here. They continue to pump out new material on a regular basis. This particular mixtape actually hit the web this past spring, but it is my favorite so far. I am not sure who produced this remix, but it is better than most of the album that it is NOT taken from. (I needed a picture, sorry folks). The Q-Tip – Consequence – kanYe circle is completed here as well. I’m racking my brain and I don’t think I can remember any tracks with just the three of them together. I am sure there is a mixtape joint out there somewhere to prove me wrong though. It’s also nice to hear kanYe rapping again instead of singing. I haven’t posted in a few days… had a few big things going on, but I did finally get the chance to update the layout of the site. Let me know what you think about the changes. But for now, enjoy some good Q-Tip music [note, the songs now play in the post, just click the title]…

Justis – Jazz Music (2008)

It’s smooth, it’s well-produced and it’s great to chill out to. This first single from Ontario native Justis is not the first take on a rap homage to jazz music (Gang Starr anyone?), but it is very well done. The Drum Brothers from France provide the production and the band, Ace Kincaid, provide the instrumentation. This single came out late last year, but his full-length was just released on Do Right! Music in March. (Note: I had previously posted a grip of tracks, and had planned to do that weekly, but now I am going to attempt a “song of the day” instead. I think it is easier to digest this week, and I certainly have enough that I want to share with you. Let me know what you think.)
